Blink was founded in 2003 by Warren Eades after returning to South Africa from two years working abroad in the UK — and it’s also the last time he received a salary. With a natural marketing instinct and a strong entrepreneurial drive, Warren began building Blink by experimenting across several industries, including printing, web design, corporate gifting and publishing.
By 2014, the printing side of the business had gained real momentum. Warren invited one of his closest friends from his London days, Dave, to join the company. Dave brought valuable printing experience to the table and, during his time in South Africa, also became a director of a well-known restaurant group before being convinced that his future belonged back in Durban.
As demand for traditional printing began to decline, Blink diversified once again — this time into organising craft beer and alternative lifestyle festivals. These events were highly successful until COVID brought the industry to a standstill. Fortunately, the launch of MyShrooms coincided perfectly with this period. The business grew rapidly and has continued to thrive ever since.
Today, MyShrooms supplies mushroom cultivation products nationwide and also grows its own Lion’s Mane mushrooms at its factory in Assagay. Blink still proudly hosts an annual craft beer festival that raises funds for animal welfare, with the 2025 event raising R312,000 for local organisations.
With over two decades of hands-on marketing experience and extensive involvement in e-commerce website development, Warren has now expanded Blink’s offering to include professional WordPress websites. His accommodation website expertise was born from building a booking platform for his own beach container, bringing practical, real-world insight into holiday rental websites as well.
